Etymology: < (i) Middle French, French palinodie ode or song in which the author retracts a view or sentiment expressed in a former poem (1512), retraction (1566 in an isolated attestation; subsequently from 1690), and its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin palinodia palinodia n.
