Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Partly a borrowing from Greek. Etymons: palinode n., -ic suffix; Greek παλινῳδικός.
Etymology: In sense 1 < palinode n. + -ic suffix. In sense 2 < ancient Greek παλινῳδικός < παλινῳδία palinodia n. + -ικός -ic suffix. Compare earlier palinodical adj. Compare French palinodique (1835 in sense 1).
