Etymology: < German Pandermit (T. Muck 1877, in Sitzungsber. d. Niederrheinischen Ges. f. Natur- u. Heilkunde 193), from the name of Panderma (Turkish Bandırma ), a town in northern Turkey close to where the mineral was discovered + German -it -ite suffix¹.

Mineralogy.

A white mineral consisting of a hydrated borate of calcium, now regarded as identical with priceite.
