The belief or doctrine that the human spirit informs and animates the universe.

1871 H. B. Forman Our Living Poets 367 If Mr. Swinburne's creed is describable in one word, that word must be made for the occasion—pananthropism:..he sees the spirit of man (which be it borne in mind he calls ‘God’) everywhere animating and informing the universe.
