Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek παντ- , ὁδός , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < ancient Greek παντ- panto- comb. form + ὁδός way (see -ode comb. form2) + -ic suffix. Compare anodic adj. (compare sense 2) and cathodic adj. (compare sense 1). N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (pænþǫ·dik) /pænˈθɒdɪk/.
Physiology. Obsolete. rare.
In the terminology of M. Hall: designating or relating to conduction of a nerve impulse in all directions from a single point.
