单词 palacinka
释义

palacinkan.

Brit. /paləˈtʃɪŋkə/, U.S. /ˌpɑləˈtʃɪŋkə/
Inflections: Plural palacinkas, palachinke, palacinke Brit. /paləˈtʃɪŋkeɪ/, U.S. /ˌpɑləˈtʃɪŋkeɪ/, palacinky Brit. /paləˈtʃɪŋki/, U.S. /ˌpɑləˈtʃɪŋki/.
Forms: 1800s– palachinka, 1900s– palacinka.
Origin: Probably of multiple origins. Probably partly a borrowing from Serbian and Croatian. Probably partly a borrowing from Slovene. Probably partly a borrowing from Czech. Etymons: Serbian and Croatian palačinka; Slovene palačinka; Czech palačinka.
Etymology: Probably variously < Serbian and Croatian palačinka, Slovene palačinka, Czech palačinka, and similar forms in other Slavonic languages (see note), all in sense ‘pancake’ < Hungarian palacsinta palacsinta n., with substitution of the Slavonic diminutive suffix -inka for -inta . Compare palacsinta n., Palatschinken n.The singular form palačinka also occurs in Bulgarian and Macedonian, with plural palačinki. The English plural forms in -ke are after the Serbian, Croatian, and Slovene; those in -ky are after the Czech plural form palačinky or Slovak palacinky, plural of palacinka. Ukrainian palačynta is the only example of a Slavonic language in which the Hungarian suffix is retained. (The word does not occur in Polish or Russian.)
In Balkan and East European cuisine: a thin pancake, often served with a sweet or savoury filling. Cf. palacsinta n., Palatschinken n.
