Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: pan- comb. form, pro- prefix2, -dactylous comb. form.
Etymology: < pan- comb. form + pro- prefix2 + -dactylous comb. form, after scientific Latin Pamprodactylae former suborder of birds including the mousebirds (family Coliidae), believed to be distinguished by pamprodactylous feet (J. Murie 1873, in Ibis 3 190).
Ornithology. Now rare.
Of a bird's foot: having all the toes pointing forward.
