Etymology: < classical Latin pampināt-, past participial stem of pampināre to prune or trim (a vine; < pampinus pampin n.) + -ing suffix1. Compare earlier pampination n. N.E.D. (1906) interpreted this as an instance of a transitive verb pampinate and cited it under pampination n.
Obsolete. rare.
