Origin: A variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: palsy n.1
Etymology: Variant of palsy n.1 (see α. forms at that entry), with loss of the ending, perhaps arising by false analysis of plural forms as showing a stem with final -s plus a plural ending. Sc. National Dict. s.v. records the word as in use in Selkirkshire in 1965. A related form perrillis is also attested in Older Scots.
