Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French oxygone.
Etymology: < Middle French, French oxygone acute-angled (end of the 16th cent. in the source translated in quot. 1605 at sense A.) < classical Latin oxygōnius or its etymon ancient Greek ὀξυγώνιος (see oxygonium n.). In later use with ending remodelled after -gon comb. form. With use as noun compare earlier oxygonium n.
