单词 oxide
释义

oxiden.

Brit. /ˈɒksʌɪd/, U.S. /ˈɑkˌsaɪd/
Forms: 1700s– oxid (now rare), 1700s– oxide, 1700s– oxyd (now rare), 1700s– oxyde (now rare).
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymons: French oxide, oxyde.
Etymology: < French †oxide (L. B. Guyton de Morveau et al. Méthode de nomencl. chim. (1787) 56), oxyde (1801, now the usual form) < ox- (in oxygène oxygen n.) + -ide (in acide acid n.: see -ide suffix). Compare German Oxid (late 18th cent.; formerly as Oxyd), Swedish oxid (1795; 1837 as †oxyd), Italian ossido (1795).In form oxid probably originally remodelled immediately after acid n. and perhaps in some later (especially U.S.) uses after -ide suffix. Forms with -y-, as in French, are ultimately after oxygen n., often immediately after oxy- comb. form2. N.E.D. (1904) also gives the pronunciation (ǫ·ksid) /ˈɒksɪd/.
