1995 Jrnl. Phycol. 31 662/1 The isogametes of C[hlorogonium]capillatum were not elongate in shape, and plasmogamy took place between the two sister gametic protoplasts within the gametangial wall. This type of gametic union, ‘paedogamy’..has not previously been reported in the green algae.
