Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: pachy- comb. form, -cephalic comb. form.
Etymology: < pachy- comb. form + -cephalic comb. form, after scientific Latin Pachycephali thick heads (1856 or earlier). Compare French pachycéphalique (1876 in the passage translated in quot. 1878).
Originally Physical Anthropology. Now rare.
Having a very thick skull; exhibiting pachycephaly. Later also (humorous): thickheaded, stupid.
