Etymology: < -fy suffix + -ed suffix¹, on the model of adjectives in -ed suffix¹ derived from verbs in -fy suffix.Formations are found (sparingly) from the 19th cent. Compare earlier -ified suffix.

Forming adjectives modelled on adjectives in -ed suffix¹ derived from verbs in -fy suffix, in cases where a corresponding verb in -fy suffix does not (yet) exist, e.g. Disneyfied adj., reggaefied adj., Sundayfied adj., tobaccofied adj. at tobacco n. Derivatives, etc. Cf. -ified suffix.
