Etymology: < the name of the Palouse river valley (see Palouse n.) + -er suffix1.Compare occasional use also of palouse in sense 2:1923 Outing Mar. 257/3 I found a bright new lard pail left by some former camper, and made a palouse (pronounced paloose), an Indian invention of inestimable value in camp.
