单词 ozone
释义

ozonen.

Brit. /ˈəʊzəʊn/, U.S. /ˈoʊˌzoʊn/
Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Ozon.
Etymology: < German Ozon (C. F. Schönbein 1840, in Ann. der Physik u. Chemie 50 635) < ancient Greek ὄζειν to smell ( < the same Indo-European base as classical Latin odor odour n.) + German -on -one suffix. Compare French ozone (C. F. Schönbein 1840, in Compt. rend. 10 709); accounts of Schönbein's coinage, all attributed to him, were given in German, French, and English all within the same year.
Chemistry.
1.
a. An allotropic form of oxygen, O3, which is a bluish toxic gas with a characteristic sharp odour, is a powerful oxidizing agent, and is produced from molecular oxygen by electrical discharge and in the upper atmosphere by ultraviolet light. Also colloquial: fresh, invigorating air.Ozone was formerly supposed to have a tonic effect and was erroneously believed to be present in fresh air.
