Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by clipping or shortening. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: oviductus n.; Latin oviductus.
Etymology: < oviductus n. or its etymon post-classical Latin oviductus. N.E.D. (1904) gives only the pronunciation (ōu·vidɒkt) /ˈəʊvɪdʌkt/.
Anatomy and Zoology.
A duct or canal by which ova or eggs pass from an ovary; (in mammals) a Fallopian tube. Cf. earlier oviductus n.
