Etymology: < ossi- comb. form + -vorous comb. form. Compare French ossivore (of an ulcer) that attacks bone (1812), gnawing on bones (1836). N.E.D. (1903) gives the pronunciation as (ǫsi·vŏrəs) /ɒˈsɪvərəs/.
Obsolete. rare.
