Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ὁριστικός.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ὁριστικός of or for defining ( < ὁριστής a person who marks the boundaries, a person who determines ( < ὁρίζειν to delimit, bound (see horizon n.) + -της , suffix forming agent nouns) + -ικός -ic suffix), with omission of initial aspiration under the influence of aoristic adj. (see H n.). Compare oristicosemeiotic adj.
