A book formed by folding a scroll alternately backwards and forwards, the resulting concertina-shaped volume then being fastened with cord passed through holes made down one side, and usually enclosed in heavy covers.Orihon were first produced in Japan in the 12th cent. and were esp. used for Buddhist texts.
