ouint.

Brit. //, U.S. /u/, Scottish English /u/
Forms: Middle English ouȝ, Middle English ov, Middle English owe, Middle English owgh, Middle English owh, Middle English owhȝ, Middle English 1600s ouh, Middle English 1600s–1700s ow, Middle English 1800s– ou; English regional (Northumberland) 1800s– oo; Scottish 1700s– ow, 1800s oo, 1800s– ou, 1900s– owe (north-eastern).
Origin: Probably an imitative or expressive formation.
Etymology: Probably imitative; compare oh int., ooh int., ough int., ow int. Duke, not only evil, you're stupid. The phrase ou aye (compare quot. 1894) also occurs in 19th cent. Scots texts as oowa, o-wye, ow-wi (see Sc. National Dict. s.v. Ou int., v.).
Now chiefly Scottish.
Expressing surprise, excitement, or a similar emotion; = oh int. ou aye: ‘yes indeed’, ‘oh yes’ (in concessive sense).
