Forms: late Middle English– orgia, 1600s orgiaes (plural, irregular), 1600s orgiay's (plural, irregular), 1600s orgyai's (plural, irregular).
Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin. Or (ii) a borrowing from Greek. Etymons: Latin orgia; Greek ὄργια.
Etymology: < classical Latin orgia (neuter plural) or ancient Greek ὄργια (neuter plural), both in sense ‘orgies’ (see orgy n.).The forms orgiaes and orgiay's represent morphological double plurals.
