Origin: A borrowing from Japanese. Etymons: Japanese oshi-dashi, oshidasu.
Etymology: < Japanese oshi-dashi (act of) pushing out, nominalized stem of oshidasu to push out (1764 in sumo) < oshi- , combining stem of osu to push (compare oshi n.) + dasu to put out (1188).
Sumo.
A winning move in which a wrestler pushes his opponent out of the ring.
