Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ōsculum.
Etymology: < classical Latin ōsculum osculum n.; compare -cule suffix. Compare French oscule (1828 in sense ‘sucker on the body of a tapeworm’; 1855 in sense ‘small rounded opening on the external surface of grains of pollen’; 1873 in sense 1).
Zoology. Now rare.
