Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin Orēad-, Orēas.
Etymology: < classical Latin Orēad-, Orēas mountain nymph < Hellenistic Greek Ὀρειαδ- , Ὀρειάς , use as noun of ὀρειαδ- , ὀρειάς , feminine form (compare -ad suffix1) corresponding to ancient Greek ὄρειος of or belonging to the mountains < ὄρε- , ὄρος mountain (see oro- comb. form1) + -ιος, suffix forming adjectives.
