Etymology: < post-classical Latin orthopnicus, variant (in certain manuscripts) of classical Latin orthopnoicus person suffering from orthopnoea (see orthopnoeic adj.). Compare Middle French, French orthopnoïque, noun (1550 in an isolated attestation; subsequently from 1868).
Obsolete.
A person suffering from orthopnoea.
