Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ὀρθολογία.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ὀρθολογία correctness of language < ὀρθο- ortho- comb. form + -λογία -logy comb. form. Compare French orthologie (1757).
Correct, approved, or traditional use of language; (formerly also) the branch of grammar which deals this. Now rare.
