Etymology: < orthography n. + -ize suffix. Compare Middle French, French orthographier to spell, to spell correctly (1426 in transitive use, 1611 in Cotgrave in intransitive use: see quot. 1611 at sense 2).
1. transitive. To instruct. Obsolete.Apparently an isolated use.
