Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: orange n.1, Tangerine n., unique adj.
Etymology: < or- (in orange n.1) + tan- (in Tangerine n.; compare sense 2 at that entry) + -ique (in unique adj.).
A citrus fruit resembling a slightly flattened orange, cultivated chiefly in Jamaica where it is believed to have arisen from a cross between a sweet orange and a tangerine.
