Origin: A borrowing from Korean. Etymon: Korean ontol.
Etymology: < Korean ontol hypocaust < on hot, warm ( < Chinese wēn hot, warm) + tol chimney ( < Chinese chimney). Compare native Korean kwutul, kwutwul in the same sense.
In Korea: a form of domestic heating having a flue or flues running underfloor from a fire or furnace.
