单词 onco-
释义

onco-comb. form

Stress is usually determined by a subsequent element and vowels may be reduced accordingly.
Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymons: Greek ὀγκο-, ὄγκος.
Etymology: < Byzantine Greek ὀγκο-, combining form (in e.g. ὀγκοποιεῖν to make swollen or puffed up, ὀγκολογεῖν to speak in a hollow voice) of ancient Greek ὄγκος mass, bulk, in Byzantine Greek also tumour (4th cent.), cognate with ancient Greek ἐνεγκεῖν to carry. Compare German Onko-, Onco- (formations in which are found from at least the mid 19th cent.), French onco- (formations in which are found from at least the late 19th cent.), and Italian onco- (formations in which are found from at least the late 19th cent.).Chiefly found in combination with second elements ultimately of Greek origin. English formations are found from the early 18th cent. (apparently earliest in oncotomy n. ).
Of or relating to swelling or tumours.

1972 P. Alexander in Nature 21 Jan. 137/2 Table 1 is an attempt to classify the different types of onco-foetal ‘antigens’ (OFAs). It seems necessary to coin this phrase because the more elegant description of carcino-embryonic antigen has been pre-empted to describe one class of these compounds.
1975 Nature 25 Dec. 734/2 In man the two best known oncofoetal antigens are the α-foetoprotein (AFP)..and the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) of the human digestive system.
