Etymology: < French officiant (1671) or its etymon post-classical Latin officiant-, officians celebrant (14–15th cent. in Dutch texts), use as noun of present participle of officiare officiate v.
A person who officiates at a religious ceremony or conducts a religious service; an officiating priest or minister.
