Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin obsorbēre.
Etymology: < classical Latin obsorbēre to absorb (1st cent. a.d.; in the older comic poets in sense ‘to swallow, gulp down’, 3rd cent. b.c.) < ob- ob- prefix + sorbēre to suck in (see absorb v.).
Obsolete.
transitive. To absorb.More recent examples of this and related words would appear to represent keying or spelling errors.
