Etymology: < classical Latin obsecrāt-, past participial stem of obsecrāre obsecrate v. + -ory suffix2, perhaps after post-classical Latin obsecrator beseecher (c400). Compare post-classical Latin obsecratorius, in litterae obsecratoriae request to a metropolitan to consecrate a bishop (9th cent.).
Obsolete. rare.
