Compare Spanish nutricio (early 17th cent. or earlier), Portuguese nutrício (17th cent.), Italian nutricio (second half of the 18th cent. or earlier, rare).Compare the following isolated early instance of borrowing of classical Latin nūtrītius foster-father (use as noun of masculine singular of nūtrītius):1611 T.
