Palaeontology. Obsolete.
Only in obolite grit, a sandstone formation containing fossil brachiopods of the genus Obolus.

1859 R. Owen in Encycl. Brit. XVII. 105/1 Obolus, Eichw. (= Ungula, Pander) is so abundant in the lower Silurian sandstones of Sweden and Russia as to have given its name to the ‘obolite grit’.
