Etymology: Origin uncertain; probably an error for nutratives , plural of nutrative n.Vicary's text relies heavily on a Middle English medical treatise of 1392, which in turn is based on Lanfranc of Milan and Henri de Mondeville. The French version of Mondeville's work (c1314) has nutritis (apparently plural of nutritif nutritive adj. and n.) in the passages cited in the quots. below. The Latin version of Mondeville's work (beginning of the 14th cent.) has nutritiva in these instances.

Obsolete. rare.

Apparently with plural agreement. The digestive organs. Cf. nutrative n.
