释义 | Bantustann. (A name given to) a self-governing area in South Africa and South West Africa (now Namibia) designated for a particular indigenous African people. Also: the policy of establishing separate territories for black citizens. Now historical. Later also in extended use (derogatory): a region consisting of isolated enclaves inhabited by minority groups. Homeland was the official name given to these areas by the South African government under its apartheid regime. Cf. homeland n. 3.
