Etymology: < French †obloesion (1611 in Cotgrave) and its etymon post-classical Latin oblaesion-, oblaesio (mid 11th cent.), probably < the past participial stem of an unattested verb *oblaedere ( < classical Latin ob- ob- prefix + laedere to hurt, injure: see lesion n.) + -io -ion suffix1.Blount gives oblaesio as the etymon, but cites Howell (presumably from an earlier work than the source of quot. 1661), who in quot. 1661 uses obloesion.
Obsolete. rare.
Hurt, injury, harm; an instance of this.
