Etymology: < classical Latin obiūrāt-, past participial stem of obiūrāre objure v. + -ion suffix1. Compare earlier objure v.Post-classical Latin obiuratio , in obiuratio libertatis recantation on oath of a liberty (by a felon) (15th cent. in a British source) probably represents a transmission error for abiuratio abjuration n.
Now rare.
