Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin nuntiativus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin nuntiativus reporting (c1390 in a British source) < classical Latin nuntiāt- , past participial stem of nuntiāre (see nunciation n.) + -īvus -ive suffix. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (nɒ·nʃiătiv) /ˈnʌnʃ(ɪ)ətɪv/.
