Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin numerus , -ically suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin numerus number n. + -ically suffix. Compare later numeric adj., numerical adj.In sense 1 after classical Latin numerō numero adv., especially in the post-classical Latin phrase idem numero the same in number (a1273 in Thomas Aquinas), after ancient Greek ἀριθμῷ..τὸ ταὐτὸν (Aristotle Topica 103a8).
