释义 | Noddy suitn. British slang (originally and chiefly Army). A suit of protective clothing, including gloves, overshoes, etc., issued for use in nuclear, biological, or chemical attacks and intended for use with a protective mask. ΚΠ 1972 Brit. Army Rev. Dec. 77 Whatever chemical warfare comes to mean in tactical terms, there is a good chance that for the individual it will mean living in his Noddy Suit, as the personal protective equipment appears to have been nicknamed, for a considerable time. 1981 Economist (Nexis) 28 Mar. 49 Sleeping, eating and groping their way into battle in hot ‘Noddy suits’, and peering through the restrictive goggles of gas masks. 1998 Daily Tel. 20 Feb. 13/2 In the radio room, civilians in white ‘noddy suits’ made the final adjustments to satellite communications equipment and in the Marines' bunk rooms, new ironing boards were already in place.
