noctulen.

Brit. /ˈnɒktjuːl/, /ˈnɒktʃuːl/, U.S. /ˈnɑkˌtʃul/
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French noctule.
Etymology: < French noctule a kind of bat (Buffon Hist. nat. VIII. (1760) 128) < post-classical Latin noctula a kind of bat (5th–6th cent.) < classical Latin noctua night owl (see noctua n.) + -ula -ule suffix. Compare Italian nottola bat (a1400; a1336 in sense ‘owl, nocturnal bird of prey’; 15th cent. as noctola).According to Buffon ( Hist. nat. (1786) II. 257) French noctule is after Italian (sic) noctula, although in the same text (251) he gives the Italian equivalents as nottolo, notula.
A large golden-brown bat, Nyctalus noctula (family Vespertilionidae), with long slender wings, rounded ears, and a short muzzle, native to temperate and subtropical Eurasia and North Africa; also noctule bat. Also (with distinguishing word): any of several other Eurasian bats of the genus Nyctalus.
