Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin nīdus , -ation suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin nīdus nest (see nidus n.) + -ation suffix.
Physiology.
1. The cyclical proliferation of the endometrium in preparation for implantation of an ovum (or preceding menstruation). Obsolete. rare.

1892 New Sydenham Soc. Lexicon Nidation,..Aveling's term for the monthly renewal of the epithelium of the mucous lining of the womb during the intermenstrual period.
