Etymology: < new adj. + order n. Compare French ordre nouveau (1794). In spec. use after German die neue Ordnung (1933 or earlier in Hitler's use, with varying precise application). Compare earlier old order n.
Sometimes more fully new order of things. A new system, regime, or government.Sometimes used spec. with reference to Hitler's plan for the reconstitution of the states of Europe on the basis of a National-Socialist regime.
