Etymology: < classical Latin Nestor (ancient Greek Νέστωρ), the name of a Homeric hero famous for his age and wisdom. Compare Middle French, French Nestor (1583–90).With Nestor's years compare classical Latin Nestōris annī (e.g. Martial 5. 58. 5, 11. 56. 13).
An old man, esp. a wise old man. Also used allusively in proverbial phrases or expressions, as Nestor's days n. old age, long life (similarly Nestor's years).
