Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: no adj., good n.
Etymology: < no adj. + good n. (compare good n. 7a). Compare earlier do-good n. and adj.Apparently originally a noun phrase used predicatively, since no does not usually modify non-comparative adjectives (compare no adv.1): perhaps related to earlier to do no good at good adj., n., adv., and int. Phrases 2d(b).
