Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin nequient-, nequiēns, nequīre.
Etymology: < classical Latin nequient-, nequiēns, present participle of nequīre to be unable, probably < neque ītur it does not go well < neque and not, neither ( < ne- not (see ne adv.1) + -que : see though adv.) + ītur , 3rd singular present (here impersonal) of īre to go (see exit v.1).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
