Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Nephrops.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Nephrops (W. E. Leach 1816, in Trans. Linn. Soc. 11 344) < nephro- nephro- comb. form + -ops -ops comb. form.
A genus of slender lobsters; (also nephrops) a lobster of this genus, esp. the Norway lobster, Dublin Bay prawn, or langoustine, N. norvegicus.
